Grade 301 is an Austenitic stainless steel, widely used for spring manufacture in the hard cold rolled condition without the requirement for heat treatment after forming. Grade 301 has rust and corrosion resistant properties and good ductility. It is non-magnetic in the annealed condition but becomes slightly more magnetic when cold worked.
